MENTORS SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE [MSE]

  • Those students recommended by Coastal Rural and Development Trust (CRDT) in Kovalam and by Parivakkam Charitable Trust (PCT) in Parivakkam,  and who have passed 10th or 12th Tamil Nadu Board Examination with good academic record and secured admission in any Skill Development course, ITI, Diploma Courses, College Degree Courses in any recognised institution, with the annual family income less than
  • Rs. 1.8lac may apply for MSE.
  • In the past 18 years we have given over 200 MSE scholarships for aspiring children in Kovalam and Parivakkam.
  • For MSE scholarships and for supporting education oriented activities of CRDT and PCT, MENTORS mobilises funds, mostly from Trustees, and the rest from well wishers & past beneficiaries.
  • In 2016-17,  in encouraging students to pursue basic science courses, Dr.M.Sivakumaran, Trustee. Director , Aurobindho Pharma and an alumni of Vivekananda College , Chennai, has sponsored scholarships, the maximum amount being Rs 20000,  to each student of Chemical discipline  meeting the following requirements:
  • For B.Sc (Chem) - 3 yr degree course-  MSE for top 3 ranking students with family income not more than Rs 15000 pm.
  • For M.Sc (Chem) - 2 yr masters course- MSE for top 3 ranking students with family income , not more than Rs 15000 pm.

FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE [FFE]

  • MENTORS also provide services of MENTORS volunteers in Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Hyderabad for identifying students who passed out in the precious years’ 12th Board exam and secured admissions in recognized engineering or medical colleges and meeting the Foundation for Excellence (FFE) scholarships criteria covering academic excellence and family income.
  • Over the past 20 years MENTORS Facilitators have been able to grant more than 200 scholarships to academically brilliant underprivileged students for engineering and medicine. In 2014 alone, our Facilitators may be processing about more than 100 new applications.
  • FFE provides liberal scholarship of Rs 40000 per year ( in 2014-15) for engineering and medical education.
  • For FFE scholarships resources for scholarships are mobilised and disbursed to the students by FFE.
  • In reaching out to FFE doing an excellent service, providing liberal scholarship for professional education in a transparent manner to the underprivileged academically brilliant students, our association started before 2000 itself. On 29 Jan 2005, MENTORS hosted the “FFE Facilitators and Scholars Meet” in Chennai, organised by FFE in our neighbourhood at the premises of Saraswathi Venkatraman Matriculation School. It was attended by Mr. Suresh Seshan, Executive Director, FFE USA , 28 Facilitators and 24 FFE scholars.
  • MENTORS provided all the needed assistance to FFE in successfully organising their Open House in Chennai on 29 Jan 2012 in the Vivekananda Hall of the College of Engineering, Guindy. In this Open House , some the students selected by FFE were Past Scholars identified by MENTORS.
  • For the services rendered by MENTORS for yet another Open House held on 4 Nov 2012, FFE in their letter of thanks mentioned: “FFE is privileged to have associated with the dedicated facilitators like you to achieve its mission. On behalf of FFE, I would like to specially thank Dr. Lalitha Jayaraman, Mr. Venkateswaran and Mr. Vinod for their kind support in all the arrangements of the event. It was a successful event which is surely the result of all of your hard work”.
  • On 10 Nov 2013 , MENTORS provided assistance to the Foundation for Excellence (FFE) to organise their Open House in Chennai, for the FFE scholars, FFE alumni and Facilitators to share their experiences. After the FFE Chennai Open House, Ms. Sudha Kidao, Managing Trustee of FFE India Trust, Bengaluru sent the following message: “ I would like to thank each of you ( Mr.Raghupathy, Mr.Venkateswaran, and Dr. Lalitha Jayaraman) for all your support and help in making FFE's Chennai Open House a resounding success. I returned to the office today after attending the US FFE event and saw pictures of the Chennai event. During my travels, I also received a report about the Open House, including the good attendance and all the arrangements that had been made. Thank you for extending your support to FFE.... this would not have been possible without your help. “
  • Mr.Prasanth identified for MSE from 11th Class, by Parivakkam and who got FFE Scholarship this year, for engineering education in MIT, Chennai, was one of the speakers chosen by FFE to talk on behalf on 1st year engineering FFE scholarship beneficiaries.
  • Other past MENTORS FFE scholars who stole the lime light include: Ms. TCD .Sunitha BE (now with Royal Bank of Scotland), Ms. Ramya Ramani , BE (working in Cognizant Technologies), Mr. Karthik , BE, ( working in Caterpillar and Associate Editor of MENTORS Seidhi Malar).
